A rock-solid combination of rock-rolling action, deep strategy, and captivating art and music from different ages of history, this is a game of crush or be crushed! Two castles stand opposed; one is yours, the other is your enemy’s. They’re a jerk and their castle sucks, so you’re going to try to smash it using an enormous boulder. – Quoted from the Steam Store page for the game.

My Thoughts

I bought this game in one of the indie bundles that was on sale on Steam over last years Christmas sale, by the looks of it this game may not seem too pleasant as you’re a rock but it is, the game is more than meets the eye. This game has character, it has a story, it has humour, it’s challenging and it’s fairly lengthy.

The game itself is pretty much 2 primary genres in one, you have the racing part of the game which is where you have to beat your opponent in racing to their leader’s gates and you have the tower defense in which you have to place up defenses strategically around the opponents path in order to slow them down or destroy their rock.

The art style of this game is great, it is very Terry Gilliam/Pythonesque and this really suits the game, I love this kind of art style, this is one of the few games to use this art style and it does it very, very well. The humour also suits the art style in a very Pythonesque way too, it’s very much like playing a licensed Monty Python game and I like that aspect.

The ingame graphics vary quite a bit from the Pythonesque menus and cutscenes, ingame the graphics are fairly impressive really for what the game is, I mean you can’t expect ground breaking graphics but they aren’t too shoddy. The story goes on for a while, there are collectable keys in each are too which gives the game a lot of replay value if you didn’t collect them all the first time around.

I don’t think there’s much else I can say about this game other than; if you’re a Monty Python fan or if you enjoy tower defense games or even if you just want a fun and enjoyable gaming experience then pick up this game, you could do far worse.
